On October 30th, 2014 at approximately 2:50 p.m., members of the Division of Narcotics Enforcement, Dubuque Drug Task Force and Dubuque Police Department executed a search warrant at 1889 (Bomani T-Shirt Shop) and 1889 ½ Jackson Street.
The search warrant was issued based on an ongoing narcotics investigation spanning several months. Two subjects were arrested during the execution of the search warrant: Donald D. Edwards, 02/11/88, of 1889 Jackson Street #1, was arrested on a warrant charging Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver, and Edwin Cruz, 04/13/70, of Iowa City, was arrested on a Johnson County (IA) warrant for Failure to Appear (original charge of O.W.I.). Edwards and Cruz are being held in the Dubuque County Jail on bonds of $30,000 and $1,300 respectively. The investigation remains ongoing and additional charges are possible.
As with any criminal case, the charges filed are allegations and any suspects are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law.
