[ARCHIVED] American Red Cross Lifeguarding Class Offered in February 2015

The Leisure Services Department is offering an American Red Cross Lifeguarding class to be held at the Hempstead High School Swimming Pool located at 3715 Pennsylvania Avenue.

American Red Cross Lifeguarding classes will be held on Friday, February 20th from 5 to 9 p.m., Saturday, February 21st from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday, February 22nd from 1 to 5 p.m.

Through videos, group discussion and hands-on practice, you’ll learn teamwork, rescue and surveillance skills, First Aid and CPR/AED, and other skills you need to work as a professional lifeguard. Successful completion results in a 2-year certification in Lifeguarding, which includes first aid, professional-level CPR and AED all in one certificate. Fee is $160.

Prerequisites: Must be at least 15 years of age, pass certain swimming requirements, and attend all class dates/times as listed above.

Registration begins on Monday, December 29th (ONLINE ONLY) and Monday, January 5th, 2015 at 8:00 a.m. for mail, e-mail, fax and walk-in registrations.
