[ARCHIVED] Traffic Safety Enforcement Project Yields 30 Citations

On Monday, May 18th, 2015, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Dubuque Police conducted a traffic safety enforcement project focusing on Dodge Street near Seippel Road and the Northwest Arterial just west of U.S. Highway 52/Iowa Highway 3.

The project, initiated primarily due to ongoing citizen complaints of excessive speed, involved four officers and a Lieutenant.

Officers focused on Dodge Street during the first two hours of the project and wrote sixteen speeding citations, one citation for driving with a suspended license and one citation for not having valid proof of insurance. Between 11:00 a.m. and 12:45 p.m., officers conducted enforcement on the Northwest Arterial. There they wrote ten citations for speeding, one for not having a valid driver’s license and one for not having proof of insurance.

A total of thirty citations were issued during the entire project. The average violator/ticketed speed on Dodge Street was 66.3 miles per hour (55 mile per hour zone). The average violator/ticketed speed on the Northwest Arterial was 63.5 miles per hour (50 mile per hour zone).
