[ARCHIVED] National Take Back Program - Prescription Drug Collection Results

On September 25th and 26th the Dubuque Drug Task Force, Dubuque Metropolitan Area Solid Waste Agency and community partners teamed up in a nationwide effort sponsored by the DEA to collect old and unused prescription medications.

Items collected included prescription medication, non-prescription medication, vitamins, herbals, supplements, syringes, thermometers, aerosols and other items.

The total weight of prescription and non prescription medication collected during the three day event was 540 pounds. The total weight of sharps collected was 40 pounds.

The items collected will be incinerated at a later date.

A special thanks to Sam’s Club and Mystique Casino for the use of their parking lots as collection sites. Their assistance helped in our fight against prescription drug abuse and in the proper disposal of hazardous household items.
