Dubuque Police Officer Brian Wullweber and his K-9 partner, Doerak participated recently in the 2009 K-9 Olympics.
The K-9 Olympics is an annual recertification and competition held at Vohne Liche Kennels in Indiana, where K-9 teams from the United States compete in a three day event. Teams include a variety of other agencies, including other police departments from very large cities, state agencies, and United States government agencies. A record 80 K-9 teams entered this year, including United States Secret Service, National Security Agency, Department of Defense, and the Pentagon Police. The Dubuque Police Department K-9 Unit placed very well and their finish is indicative of the continual support for our K-9 unit from both the department, and our community. Placement is as follows:
2nd Place, Overall Team Patrol
4th Place, Obedience
5th Place, Open Area Narcotics Search
7th Place, 1.5 Mile Obstacle Course
11th Place, Patrol
