[ARCHIVED] Public Input Meeting for Proposed Intermodal Facility on Aug. 31

A public meeting on the proposed Intermodal Facility in the Historic Millwork Districtwill be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 31, in the City Council Chambers at 350 W. 6th Street. The public is invited to learn more about the plans and provide input.

Over the past several years, the City Council has established the construction of an intermodal facility as a top priority. It is anticipated that this facility would integrate parking and transit components in the downtown area. It has been envisioned that this facility would accommodate the following modes of transportation:
• Passenger Rail (Amtrak)
• The Jule – local office, bus storage, transfer point
• Burlington Trailways
• Lamers Bus Lines
• RTA
• Taxi service
• Electric bicycle system
• Excursion boats
• Walking/bicycling trail point
• Hotel shuttles

The City has hired a consultant, Neumann Monson, to develop a preliminary design for an intermodal facility. The goal of the August 31 meeting is to solicit public input on the specific needs of this facility.
