On Monday, October 8th, 2012, at 10:40 p.m., Dubuque Police responded to 2759 Ventura Drive #6 on the report of a burglary with shots fired. The preliminary investigation indicated two individuals knocked on the apartment door and when answered, one allegedly attempted to force entry while displaying a crowbar in a threatening manner. An occupant of the apartment discharged a handgun, causing non-fatal wounds to the individual armed with the crowbar. Both individuals fled from the residence with the wounded ultimately being transported by private vehicle to Mercy Hospital for treatment of injuries. The investigation is ongoing with no arrests or charges at this time. It appears the parties involved are associates and there is no immediate danger to the general public.
