DUBUQUE, IOWA – Tuesday night’s heavy rain event caused three sanitary sewer overflows: one on West Locust Street and Rosedale Avenue and two separate locations along the Catfish Creek line.
The City of Dubuque Public Works Department and Engineering Department staff discovered the overflow at Rosedale and West Locust at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday night. About that same time, a manhole was discovered overflowing north of the Brunskill Road Bridge over Catfish Creek. A third manhole was discovered overflowing on Wednesday morning north of the Rockdale Road Bridge over Catfish Creek. Each overflow was eliminated, with the last one ending by 11:40 this morning.
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources cautions people to keep their children and pets away from the noted area, which is posted, for forty-eight (48) hours.
