[ARCHIVED] Dubuque Police Investigate Robberies

On October 21st, 2010, at approximately 3:12 p.m., a Dubuque Police Officer was “flagged down” and notified of an armed robbery that had just occurred in the area of Rhomberg Ave. & Kniest St.

The officer located a suspect in the immediate area and took him into custody. The juvenile suspect, identified as Kendrick D. Bridges 03/04/94 of 524 E. 22nd St., was seen discarding a handgun as he fled the robbery scene. The handgun was recovered by officers in the area shortly after Bridges was taken into custody. Bridges remains in the custody of the Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office on charges of Robbery 1st Degree, Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Deliver & Possession of Crack Cocaine with Intent to Deliver. A second juvenile suspect has also been charged with Robbery 1st Degree but has not been taken into custody. The victim, Bobby E. Franklin 04/18/83 of Platteville, WI, admitted to police that the initial encounter with the two suspects was the result of a proposed drug transaction.

A second robbery was reported later the same evening when a cab driver from Platteville, identified as Merle C. Forbes 07/16/34, came to the law enforcement center to report he was robbed at approximately 4:45 p.m. in the area of the 200 block of E. 21st St. Forbes advised he had driven an individual - described as a black male, 20’s, 5’08”-5’10”, 140-160 pounds, wearing dark clothing - from Platteville to Dubuque. Upon arrival at the above location, the individual allegedly pointed a handgun at Forbes and robbed him of an undisclosed amount of cash. Dubuque Police are investigating this case with the assistance of Platteville Police.
