DUBUQUE, Iowa -- The City of Dubuque is seeking applications from interested residents to serve on the seven-member
Arts & Cultural Affairs Advisory Commission due to expiring terms of three of its current commissioners.
Two of the anticipated openings must be filled by representatives from the business professional community, one of who lives or works in the downtown arts and cultural entertainment district. The third opening is a general, at-large position, to be filled by a representative living or working outside of the downtown arts and cultural entertainment district.
Applications should be
submitted online by May 24, 2021 for current openings. Applications received after the deadline will remain active for one-year and will be revisited to fill vacancies that may arise.
Eligible applicants will have the opportunity to address City Council on June 7, 2021 when applications will be formally reviewed with appointments to be made on June 21, 2021.
The Arts and Cultural Affairs Advisory was created in 2004 to build the community of Dubuque through arts and cultural programs by developing visibility, funding, audiences, information and partnerships. The Arts & Cultural Affairs Advisory Commission is staffed by the City’s Arts & Cultural Affairs Coordinator and meets monthly, convening virtually at this time.
The City strongly encourages applicants with diverse backgrounds, life experiences, and perspectives to apply, especially those from minority populations underrepresented in the arts and culture community. All qualified applications will receive consideration for appointment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, familial status, sexual orientation, national origin, ability, age, or veteran status.
