Jule Scavenger Hunt Kicks Off Saturday

DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Jule, the City of Dubuque’s public transit system, invites the entire community to participate in a free scavenger hunt activity to learn how to ride the bus. The opportunity to participate will begin Sept. 1 and go through the end of February 2013. General service hours are Monday-Friday, 6 a.m.-6:45 p.m. and Saturday, 8 a.m.-5:30 p.m. See individual routes for last run.

The start and end point for the activity is The Jule’s transfer location at 6th and Iowa Streets and includes transfer points in between. Participants will start on the Jule’s Green Line, transfer at the JFK Circle Transfer location, and then take the Red Line to return to the 6th and Iowa St Transfer location. Small children under 13 need to be accompanied by an adult. The duration of the activity is a minimum of two hours or as long as riders want.

“This is a great way for the general public to become familiar with the transit system in Dubuque. Parents with young children, college students, people new to Dubuque, girl and boy scout troops, or anyone looking for something fun to do are encouraged to participate,” said Barbara Morck, Director of Transit Operations for The Jule.

Free passes and instructions for the scavenger hunt are available at the following locations:
• The Jule, 2401 Central Ave.
• American Trust on 9th and Main Street
• Premier Bank on JFK Road
• Dupaco Community Credit Union on JFK Road
• Dubuque Bank and Trust on Central Avenue
• Dupaco at Hy-Vee on South Locust Street

Participants who complete the scavenger hunt will be entered in a monthly drawing for prize packages from Best Buy, Mindframe Theaters, and the Dubuque Fighting Saints.

This activity is sponsored by Sustainable Dubuque. For more information on The Jule routes or schedules, please visit www.juletransit.org or call 563-589-4196.
