Council Member Laura Roussell

Overview

Laura Roussell, of 3224 Bittersweet Lane, was elected to the Dubuque City Council in November 2019 to represent the city’s Second Ward.

Background

Laura earned a bachelor’s degree in business and a master’s degree in business administration from Clarke University.  She recently retired as the senior community affairs manager at Black Hills Energy in Dubuque.  Laura and her husband Jon Roussell are parents to an adult son. 

Civic Involvement

Laura is a Dubuque native and has served on the Dubuque Zoning Advisory Commission and Resilient Community Advisory Commission.  Laura is also a board member for Hawkeye Area Community Action Agency and member and past president of the Kiwanis Club of Dubuque.  She is the founder and current president of Dubuque Trees Forever.  Additional past civic involvement includes the Dubuque Chamber Business Advocacy Committee, Dubuque Business Leader Equity Cohort and serving on the boards for the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra, Northeast Iowa School of Music (NISOM,) the Almost Home Homeless Shelter, and the Dubuque Energy District.  Laura is a violinist and a former member of the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra.
