Providing Public Input

Your City, Your Voice

As a resident of Dubuque, your voice matters in decisions facing our city. Providing public input allows those residing in Dubuque to share their voice with city council members, city staff, and make a difference in the community. Public input can be shared at any time regarding any topic by contacting the city council or city staff. You can also share input at public meetings where certain agenda items will be discussed.

Ways to share public input

  • If you cannot make it to a public meeting with an agenda item you wish to provide public input on, contact the city council or the city clerk for you input to be considered beforehand.
  • There will be opportunities during public meetings for residents to provide public input on certain agenda items. Check the agenda of the meeting you're attending and provide input either:
    1. In-person in the Council Chambers of the Historic Federal Building (350 W. Sixth St.).
    2. Online as a participant in the virtual meeting denoted in the agenda.

What to provide

  • Your name.
  • Your address.
  • Your input regarding a specific agenda item

What to know

  • Please address the Mayor and Council Member by their title followed by their last name.
  • Live public input at meetings is limited to 5 minutes per-person and 30 minutes in total.
  • Public input is limited to issues or actionable items that are listed in the agenda (i.e. public hearings and action items).

Individuals with limited vision, hearing, or speech impairments requiring special assistance can use Relay Iowa by dialing 711 or 800-735-2942. Individuals with limited English proficiency requiring special assistance should contact the City Clerk’s Office at 563-589-4100, or ctyclerk@cityofdubuque.org as soon as feasible.
