Safe Routes to School

Safe Routes to School is a national movement that aims to make it safer and easier for students to walk and bike to school. In Dubuque, The Safe Routes to School committee is a partnership between the City of Dubuque, Dubuque Community School District, and the Iowa Safe Routes to School program. The committee aims to make streets safer, educate students in safe walking and biking, and encourage students and families to choose to walk and bike.

The Safe Routes to School effort in Dubuque began in 2009 with the development of a plan that looked at every school, analyzing street conditions and parent survey responses.
