Water Plant Flood Protection

Estimated Completion Date - 2025

This project is designed to ensure adequate water for firefighting and a potable water supply for the Dubuque community. Flood proofing of the water treatment plant on Hawthorne Street will protect the facility and allow it to remain in operation in the event of a failure of the floodwall/levee system or localized flash flooding.

The project requires:
◦ Construction of a 6 foot tall permanent concrete floodwall along the property fence line
◦ Stormwater modifications (due to the construction of the floodwall)
◦ Equipping gravity stormwater pipes with backflow prevention devices
◦ Updating stormwater conveyance systems with pumping capacity
