Long Range Planning Advisory Commission

Purpose

The purpose of the commission is to foster the community planning process, develop policies, goals, plans, and management tools, and help guide the community's future development, public policies, and decision making.  One way the Commission accomplishes these tasks is by supervising the preparation and maintenance of the City’s Comprehensive Plan, a policy guide for the community’s physical, social, and economic development.  Staff support the Commission to help carry out this work. Follow the links for more about the Community’s Comprehensive Plan and the Commission’s powers, duties and responsibilities

Membership

Six members are appointed by the City Council to three-year terms. The seventh member must be appointed by and from the membership of the Housing Commission, with concurrence of the City Council.

Members should be excited about contributing to the City’s long range planning work and its efforts to guide the City’s physical, social, and economic development. The Commission seeks members from diverse backgrounds and experiences to ensure that the City’s long range planning efforts represent all Dubuque residents.
